is “celebrating” the “next chapter” away from her former royal life in her new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
The Suits alum, 43, made an emotional speech with some seemingly pointed jabs at the crown during a backyard barbeque she hosted in episode 8 of the Netflix series, which premiered on Tuesday, March 4.
“Guys, this feels like a new chapter that I’m so excited I get to share when I’ve been able to learn from you,” she said as she raised her glass to guests who helped with her rebrand, including her husband, , mother and chef . “So, thank you for the love and support. And here we go, it’s a business.”
After gushing about the fresh start, Meghan called the venture back into the spotlight much-needed, adding, “That’s part of that creativity, that I’ve missed so much.”
Meghan, known for her stints on Suits and Deal or No Deal, took time away from acting when she became a full-time royal after marrying Harry, 40, in May 2018. The couple stepped back from their senior royal duties in January 2020, announcing their intention to “work to become financially independent” before relocating to Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3.
At the time, sources exclusively told In Touch that the couple were tired of the rigid guidelines that being in the royal family required.
“Harry and Meghan have had enough of the negative press and rules and regulations that come with being tied to ‘the firm’ so are willing to give it all up,” an insider said in January 2020. “They want their own life.”
Meghan’s new Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, is filmed in a nearby California farmhouse, separate from their $14.65 million mansion to maintain their privacy. Harry and Meghan live in the fifth most expensive zip code in the United States, home to a host of celebrities including, and . The neighborhood is highly exclusive, with a median household income of $212,154, according to Data USA.
With Love, Meghan is part of a reported $100 million deal the couple signed with Netflix in 2020, which includes several projects produced by Meghan and Harry’s Archewell Productions. The documentary Harry and Meghan, which exposed challenges that led to their retreat from life as working royals, was the first project to be released in 2022 on the streaming service. The project not only made the Top 10 list and ranked No. 1 in the U.K., but quickly became the most-watched documentary premiere on the streaming platform, with a total of 81.55 million hours viewed. The couple released Polo in December 2024, a documentary showcasing the superstars of the equestrian sport.
Harry also released a bombshell memoir, Spare, in January 2023 that detailed his own hardships in the royal family before carving out his own path.
Reports have indicated that Harry and Meghan have since made progress with the royal family after Kate Middleton and King Charles were both diagnosed with cancer. Kate, 43, is now in remission.
Meghan was well prepared for her Netflix return, as sources exclusively told In Touch that she “spent a small fortune upgrading her wardrobe” ahead of her highly anticipated 2025 comeback.
“Meghan has always loved designer clothes and fancy things but the crowd she’s fallen in with in Montecito are next-level rich and that has absolutely raised the bar for her when it comes to her own style,” the insider explained on January 31. “They all have stylists and think nothing of wearing hundreds of thousands in jewelry, if not millions, on a day-to-day basis.”
