MCIT signs MoU with Microsoft to train 100,000 Egyptians with AI skills

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Microsoft Egypt have signed an MoU to train 100,000 youth and government employees in AI, supporting the country’s 2025–2030 National AI Strategy. The partnership focuses on developing digital skills, responsible AI use, and public sector innovation. It includes hands-on training, global knowledge exchange, and regulatory dialogue, strengthening Egypt’s AI workforce and positioning the country as a regional digital leader.

Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft Egypt to develop AI skills among 100,000 youth and public sector employees as part of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025–2030.

Witnessed by Minister Amr Talaat, the agreement prioritises talent development, ethical AI deployment, and institutional capacity building. It marks a new phase in Egypt’s digital transformation efforts, supporting key pillars of the national AI strategy, including robust data governance, regulatory readiness, and human capital investment.

The MoU, signed by Deputy Minister Raafat Hindi and Microsoft Egypt GM Mirna Arif, includes customised training paths and hands-on learning for government staff and young professionals. It also provides sector-specific technical consultation to help government bodies integrate AI into public service delivery.

Minister Talaat highlighted the partnership as a vehicle to “enhance local AI talent and ensure responsible deployment”, aligned with global best practices. Microsoft’s regional president, Samer Abu Latif, called the deal a strategic milestone in empowering Egypt’s digital economy through AI-led innovation.

With a strong focus on future-ready skills and responsible tech use, the initiative aims to position Egypt as a regional leader in AI and digital workforce development.
