Mbadi revokes Wangamati's appointment as Superannuation Fund chair

The appointment of former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati as the chairperson of Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees has been revoked.

This is after the National Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi announced the revocation of Wangamati's appointment as the chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees.

The revocation, which was made through a gazette notice on Friday, takes place with immediate effect.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 (1) (a) of the Public Service Superannuation Scheme Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning revokes the appointment of — WYCLIFFE WAFULA WANGAMATI as the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, with effect from the 27th June, 2025," the notice reads.

Wangamati, who served as the second Bungoma Governor was appointed to chair the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees on June 8, 2024.

He was appointed by the then National Treasury CS Prof Njuguna Ndung'u.

Wangamati was to serve for the next three years after the appointment.

"The Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury and Economic Planning appoints Wycliffe Wafula Wangamati to be the Chairperson of the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 7th June, 2024," the gazette notice read.
