Maximum temperature rises to 37.2°C, light rain likely over weekend in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: The city experienced a hot and sunny day, with temperatures climbing slightly higher than the previous day. However, the weather is expected to shift slightly in the coming days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) says.

On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 27.7°C, marking an increase of 1.8°C, while the maximum temperature reached 37.2°C, up by one degree. The day remained sunny and dry, intensifying the heat, while humidity levels hovered around 53%, adding to the discomfort for residents. The IMD forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers from Thursday through next Tuesday, which may bring some relief from the prevailing heat. Despite the rise in local temperatures, the average maximum temperature across Haryana remained unchanged from the previous day. However, it continues to be below normal by 2.2°C, indicating a slight deviation from seasonal norms. The highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 43.4°C in Sirsa, highlighting the regional variation in heat intensity. Looking ahead, the city is likely to witness a minimum temperature around 25°C and a maximum of approximately 36°C over the next six days.

The anticipated rainfall could help ease the heat and improve air quality, which often deteriorates during prolonged dry spells.Meanwhile, Delhi may experience strong weather activity on Friday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for thunderstorm and rain. A yellow alert was also issued for Thursday. IMD expects another western disturbance to impact the region on May 29.
