The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, and the alumni association of the institution have reaffirmed their commitment to fostering strategic collaboration for institutional development and students’ enrichment.

This commitment was reiterated during courtesy visits by the newly elected national leadership of the MAPOLY Alumni Association, led by its President, Ayinde Soaga—a veteran broadcaster and former General Manager of Ogun State Television (OGTV).

The delegation engaged both the institution’s Rector and the Olota of Ota and Paramount Ruler of Aworiland, Oba (Prof.) Adeyemi Obalanlege. During discussions with the Rector, Dr Koyejo Jolaoso—himself a distinguished alumnus—the alumni leadership outlined a structured plan to enhance academic programmes, students’ mentorship, and infrastructure development, including the completion of the long-awaited hostel project to improve students’ welfare.

Jolaoso welcomed the initiative, emphasising alumni engagement as a key driver of MAPOLY’s progress.

The delegation later visited Oba Obalanlege, an alumnus and member of the Committee of Distinguished Alumni (CODA), at his palace in Ota. The monarch, who described the reunion with his former classmates and fellow alumni as heartwarming, stressed the importance of giving back to the institution that shaped their paths.

He, therefore, called for intensified and collaborative efforts toward upgrading MAPOLY to a university, stressing that such a move is long overdue given the institution’s immense contributions to educational development in Nigeria.

Soaga, in his remark, assured the royal father of purposeful alumni leadership focused on impactful institutional development. He outlined key areas of focus to include students’ empowerment, infrastructure enhancement, mentorship programmes, and the revitalisation of the alumni digital database for better engagement.

Earlier, in a demonstration of solidarity, the alumni delegation participated in the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the late Olatunde Ayinla Abudu, a revered MAPOLY Fellow and major benefactor of the institution.

Meanwhile, as MAPOLY prepares for its forthcoming convocation, the reinforced partnership between management and alumni signals a new era of sustainable institutional growth and strategic alumni engagement.
