A man, Alhaji Yusuf Saleh Ashafa, has slumped and died at the venue of an election to affirm the incumbent chairman of Abaji Area Council in the FCT, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Abdullahi.

Our reporter learnt that the incident happened on Wednesday morning at Abaji Science Primary School, venue of the election.

Witnesses said the deceased, who was a close ally of the council chairman, drove himself to the venue of the event.

A witness, identified as Kabiru said, ‘’The man drove himself to the venue but collapsed while coming out from the car and that was the end.”

The witness said he was rushed to the hospital where doctors confirmed him dead.

According to him, the deceased was believed to be hale and hearty before the incident.

Abuja Metro reports that the deceased, who was a native of Abaji, was one of the sons of a late prominent politician in the council, Alhaji Saleh Ashafa. It was also gathered that prominent politicians in the council, including the council chairman and some of his aides had visited the deceased’s family to condole with them.

An elder brother of the deceased, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Ashafa, also confirmed the incident.
