A man who was shot in the abdomen by police officers has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing two people.
Merseyside Police officers were called to Tobruk Road in Huyton at around 4.25pm on Wednesday 14 May after they received reports that a man and a woman had both been stabbed in a garden.
When officers arrived, a suspect was subsequently shot and taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his abdomen. His condition is described as stable.
The 33-year-old from Huyton has now been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
The man in his 20s was discharged from hospital shortly after the attack, while the woman in her 50s remains in hospital where her condition is also described as stable.
The force said it has notified the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is standard procedure in these circumstances, and added that the watchdog has begun its independent investigation.
