Man caught selling IPL final tickets at high price, booked | Ahmedabad News - Times of India
Ahmedabad: The city crime branch on Saturday booked a man for illegally selling tickets in Paldi for the IPL 2025 final match at inflated rates. The accused, a resident of Jagdishpark Society, near RTO Office in Vadodara, was caught near Mahalaxmi Crossroads in Paldi with six tickets in his possession.The incident occurred on Saturday during routine patrolling. At around 6.25pm, crime branch cops received information that a person wearing a navy blue t-shirt and jeans was standing outside a commercial complex, attempting to sell IPL final tickets for more than their printed price. Acting on the tip-off, the police team, along with witnesses, reached the spot and detained the suspect.He was searched in the presence of panch witnesses, and six physical tickets for the TATA IPL 2025 Final, scheduled for June 3 at Narendra Modi Stadium, were found in his pocket.
Each ticket had a printed price of Rs 1,500. According to police, the man admitted to selling them at Rs 5,000 each.The FIR filed by ASI Khoda Arjan of the crime branch states, "The accused admitted to booking the tickets online and was trying to sell them at double the price. He did not have any licence, permit, or authorisation to sell tickets publicly." The tickets were seized by the city crime branch, and he was booked under relevant sections of the Gujarat Police Act for unauthorised ticket selling in a public place.
