Man arrested in Lagos for allegedly punching fun seeker to death
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Philip Ogbuehi for allegedly punching a fellow fun seeker to death during a dispute at a lounge in the Ogidan area of Sangotedo, Lagos.
Reports indicate that the suspect and the deceased (name withheld) had a minor altercation over the right of passage in the lounge, which escalated into a heated argument and physical confrontation.
During the incident, Ogbuehi allegedly delivered several deadly blows to the deceased, who reportedly slumped. Onlookers rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending medical practitioner.
Confirming the incident yesterday, Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the name of the deceased is being withheld pending the conclusion of investigations.
“On May 6, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m., detectives of the Command received information that during a heated argument between one Philip Ogbuehi, 46, and the deceased over the right of passage at a lounge in Ogidan, Sangotedo area of Lagos, the said Philip reportedly punched the deceased on the chest. The deceased shortly after went unconscious,” he said.
Hundeyin added, “He was rushed to a hospital where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
Detectives immediately visited the scene, where the suspect was arrested. The corpse has been deposited at Mainland Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy. Investigation is ongoing.”
