Ex-convict arrested for robbery, three nabbed for defiling teenager in Lagos
An ex-convict, Olayinka Oluwaseyi, 28, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rob a motorist on Mile 12 Bridge in Lagos, just three months after his release from a correctional facility.
Oluwaseyi, armed with two knives, was apprehended by patrol officers from Ketu Division on May 13, 2025, at about 1:30 a.m. The timely intervention of the patrol team thwarted the robbery attempt.
One accomplice involved in the incident is currently at large, with efforts underway to apprehend him.
Confirming the arrest, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said: “Olayinka Oluwaseyi was released from prison three months ago for the same crime. He is currently in custody while investigations continue, and he will be arraigned soon.”
In a separate case, three individuals have been arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in the Yusuf Esan area of Amukoko, Lagos.
The teenager was reportedly lured from Orile to Amukoko by one Kalid on April 27, where he and six others allegedly assaulted her at about 8:00 p.m.
The crime was reported to the police at 9:00 p.m. the same day. A team of detectives mobilised to the scene and arrested 20-year-old Awali Alabi, 18-year-old Saliu Anafi, and 16-year-old Basit Nurudeen, while four others fled.
The survivor has been taken to the General Hospital, Suru-Alaba, Amukoko, for medical examination and treatment.
Commending the officers of Ketu Division for their vigilance and professionalism, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Olohundare Jimoh, reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for criminal activities, particularly traffic robbery.
Jimoh assured residents of the police’s commitment to ensuring their safety and called on the public to report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
