Makola Market traders educated on insuring goods against fire - MyJoyOnline
In response to the recent surge in fire outbreaks causing significant destruction in markets, Legal Ink Lawyers and Associates conducted an educational outreach at Makola Market.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness among traders about the importance of using legal channels to secure compensation for losses resulting from such disasters.
Addressing the traders, the firm’s Deputy Managing Counsel, Kamil Mohammed, highlighted the need for insurance as a safeguard against unexpected losses.

“When you have insurance covering your property and such a disaster occurs, the insurer will provide compensation. Depending on the terms of the insurance policy, it may even cover the cost of rebuilding the structure,” he explained.

As part of the outreach, the firm also educated traders on the importance of drafting a will. Associate solicitor Priscilla Mac-Andoh emphasised the role of a will in protecting the interests of one’s family.
“It’s important to have a will before we die. It spares our loved ones the stress of disputes and ensures that property is secured for minor children,” she noted.
