Madonna recently began teasing the next chapter of her music career. It’s been several years since she released an album of original material, and fans have been waiting patiently to hear from the pop icon once more. Not long after she revealed that she had started work on another full-length, news broke that she may be further along on the project than some had assumed.

The studio effort, which Madonna has labeled Confessions 2 on social media, a reference to a possible sequel to her album Confessions on a Dance Floor, seems to have spurred interest in the original title. Fans have returned to that Grammy-winning set, perhaps inspired by Madonna's hinting and teasing, and in an effort to show the superstar just how much they love that era and may be excited for an extension of it.

Confessions on a Dance Floor is back on the charts in the United Kingdom this week. The title reappears on the Official Dance Albums ranking at No. 26. It’s only been a few months since Confessions on a Dance Floor could be found on the Official Dance Albums chart, the U.K.’s ranking of the biggest full-lengths that can be classified under the dance genre label, despite the fact that the set has been out in the world for many years.

The project last appeared on the list in October 2024, when it narrowly managed to find space on the 40-spot ranking, coming in at No. 39. It’s been almost exactly a year since Madonna’s electronic dance-leaning full-length rose higher than it currently sits. In February 2024, it spent one week at No. 18 on the Official Dance Albums chart. In all the frames it has spent somewhere on the roster since then, it has appeared lower than No. 26, where it lands at the moment.

Madonna debuted Confessions on a Dance Floor on the Official Dance Albums chart at No. 1 in late 2005. The bestseller and critically-acclaimed effort has earned a lucky 13 stays on the throne, with half a dozen of those coming to her in a row just after it launched.

At the moment, Confessions on a Dance Floor is Madonna's only charting album in the U.K. One of her biggest hits, which doesn't appear on that full-length, does manage to take up space on a pair of tallies, though it's declining in popularity.

"Like a Prayer" surged back onto the U.K. charts last year following its use in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine. This time around, that '80s smash, which helped define both her career and a generation, dips from No. 60 to No. 67 on the Official Singles Downloads chart. It falls from No. 62 to No. 73 on the Official Singles Sales ranking as well.
