Beyoncé last released new music in the spring of 2024, when she dropped her first country album, Cowboy Carter. Since then, the superstar has been focused on promoting the set with a number of singles, and lately, the project has been back in the spotlight after it collected several Grammys. While she hasn’t given fans anything new to listen to lately, the singer still manages to score another hit in the United Kingdom.

A track Beyoncé released nearly two decades ago debuts on a pair of charts this frame, and the singer brings two other musicians along with her for the ride. “One Night Only” debuts on two sales-focused rankings in the U.K. this week. The Dreamgirls cut has become a bestseller for the first time across the pond.

“One Night Only” debuts highest on the Official Singles Downloads chart, where it enters at No. 83. It comes in seven spaces below that position on the Official Singles Sales ranking, which takes into account all forms of purchases of individual tunes in the nation.

Beyoncé is not the only artist credited on “One Night Only.” She’s joined by Anika Noni Rose and Sharon Leal, who also played important roles in the Dreamgirls movie.

While the other two artists are not known for their musical output, Beyoncé has appeared on both of these charts dozens of times. She's collected at least 50 hits on the Official Singles Sales ranking, and her total count is up to at least 75 on the downloads-only roster.

Two versions of “One Night Only” were included on the Dreamgirls soundtrack. One features Beyoncé, Rose, and Leal performing the cut together. Another take is a solo affair for Jennifer Hudson, as the two very different renditions play into the story of the musical and film.

The Dreamgirls soundtrack was released in December 2006 to accompany the film, which also starred Beyoncé. The project became a huge hit in the United States, where it topped the Billboard 200. It also performed well on a number of U.K.-based rankings, hitting the top 10 on several important lists.

“One Night Only” was recently played during the BAFTAs, the British equivalent to the Academy Awards. That high-profile sync may have been enough to spur fans in the U.K. to head to platforms like iTunes to purchase the cut, and since it debuts fairly low on two sales rankings, it likely didn't need to sell a huge number in order to place on the tallies.
