Los Angeles Clippers sign Ben Simmons after being waived by Brooklyn Nets | Flashscore.com
The Los Angeles Clippers signed guard Ben Simmons (28) on Monday after the Brooklyn Nets bought out the rest of his contract and waived him on Saturday.
No financial terms of the deal have been released at this time. Simmons will now join guard James Harden on a Clippers team that ranks seventh in the Western Conference with a 29-23 record.
The three-time All-Star was in the final year of his five-year deal with the Nets and was set to earn $40.3 million this season with the team. Simmons averaged just 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game in 33 games for the Nets.
The injury-riddled guard has widely been looked at as one of the biggest draft disappointments in recent years after the Philadelphia 76ers took him first overall in the 2016 NBA Draft.
Simmons only played in 90 games for the Nets over the course of three seasons and has yet to play over 60 games in a season since his second year with the Sixers, in which he played 79 games.
