Lorde has revealed that she used MDMA therapy to cure her stage fright.

The Kiwi singer-songwriter’s fourth studio album, ‘Virgin’ is out tomorrow (June 27). So far, she’s shared singles ‘What Was That‘, ‘Man Of The Year‘ and ‘Hammer‘.

In celebration of the LP, Lorde is set to embark on her UK, European and North American ‘Ultrasound’ tour later this year. She has promised fans that the forthcoming gigs “could be our masterpiece”. You can find any remaining tickets here (UK/Ireland).

Ahead of the live shows, she revealed in an interview on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert that she’s recently cured her stage fright after suffering for years, and now loves touring.

“I had truly the most horrific stage fright, really since I was like five doing community theater,” Lorde said. When Colbert asked her what helped her overcome the stage fright, she responded, “Well, it’s MDMA therapy. Yeah. Truly, like, changed the game on my stage fright.”

She added: “What I’ve heard, some of these [fears] live very deep in the body, and you hold on to it,” she said. “You hold on to a response like stage fright for reasons that no amount of talk therapy or brain use could get at. But when you bypass that and get to the body, something shifts. And that totally happened for me. I tried everything for my stage fright. I did this therapy, and then literally, I woke up the next day and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s over. I know it’s over.’”

There is currently speculation over a potential secret set from Lorde at Glastonbury 2025 this weekend. She is rumoured for the opening ‘TBA’ slot on the Woodies stage tomorrow – the same day ‘Virgin’ is released.

Rumours about some secret sets at this year’s festival arose after the full line-up and day splits were unveiled at the start of the month, and there were indications of several secret sets on the way.

It comes after she recently said she was eager to “pull some strings” and organise a last-minute appearance.

Lorde recently previewed more new songs from the album when she surprised fans at a listening party in London. One of the cuts debuted at the event was ‘Clear Blue’, which she previously revealed was about “unprotected sex and taking a pregnancy test”.
