LIVESTREAMED: Parliament vets Mahama's final Supreme Court nominee after dismissal of petition
Justice Kweku Ackaah-Boafo’s vetting was put on hold following a petition challenging his nomination
The Appointments Committee of Parliament is vetting the final Supreme Court justice nominee of President John Dramani Mahama, Justice Kweku T Ackaah-Boafo, on Friday, June 20, 2025.
This is after the House dismissed a petition lodged against Justice Ackaah-Boafo’s nomination.
The petition, submitted by self-identified international human rights activist Anthony Kwabenya Rau, had temporarily stalled the vetting process amid a storm of allegations.
Rau accused the Court of Appeal judge of judicial bias, misconduct, and unprofessional behaviour, citing a courtroom incident at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) where he claimed the judge verbally attacked him and questioned his right to represent clients in Ghana.
The committee has already vetted six of the seven nominees of President Mahama – Justice Senyo Dzamefe, Justice Sir Dennis Adjei, Justice Gbiel Simon Suurbaareh, Justice Philip Bright Mensah, Justice Bartels-Kodwo and Justice Hafisata Amaleboba.
