Liman Wins FIBA 3x3 World Tour Ulaanbaatar 2025; Stevanovic Named Finals MVP

Liman (SRB) clinched their inaugural World Tour victory of the season, triumphing over Baskets Bonn Telekom (GER) in a thrilling 21-20 final at the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Ulaanbaatar 2025 on June 21. The Serbian squad, spearheaded by Marko Stevanovic, showcased their characteristic clinical precision throughout the tournament in Ulaanbaatar. They leveraged their height advantage and efficient shot-making to achieve a perfect record in pool play, building momentum that carried them through the knockout rounds. They adeptly managed their semi-final match against the home team, Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy, securing their place in the championship game.

Their opponents in the final, the young German side Baskets Bonn Telekom, were making their second consecutive finals appearance. Despite splitting results in pool play, they excelled in the knockout stages, securing impressive victories against Riffa and Marijampole Mantinga. The final match commenced with an explosive start, as Nemanja Zigon delivered a statement poster dunk to open the scoring. Both teams maintained a high pace early on, trading baskets to remain neck-and-neck. Denzel Agyeman swiftly retaliated after Zigon's early poster, executing one of his own against Liman.

While Stevanovic, Popovic, and Zigon contributed significantly to Liman's offense, it was Andreja Milutinovic who masterfully orchestrated the team's play, scoring points at will to keep pace with the formidable German side. The game remained intensely close until the very end, with Baskets Bonn Telekom holding a precarious lead as time dwindled. However, concerns arose for the German team when star player Fabian Giessmann suffered a tweaked ankle. Despite this setback, the German trio pushed on, establishing a 19-15 lead with under two minutes remaining.

Liman capitalized on Baskets Bonn's free throw struggles and increasing foul trouble, mounting a determined comeback. With the score at 20-19 in favor of Baskets Bonn, Milutinovic delivered a clutch two-point shot, sealing a dramatic 21-20 victory for Liman. He finished the final with an impressive 13 points. Although Milutinovic earned late-game heroic accolades, it was Marko Stevanovic who consistently served as Liman's go-to player, with the team relying on his offensive prowess and defensive dominance to advance through the tournament. Stevanovic concluded the two-day event with a team-high 36 points, earning him MVP recognition for his outstanding performance that directly led to Liman's success.

In the individual skill contests held during the event, Jonas Foerts emerged as the winner of the Wilson Shoot-Out Contest, while Joel ‘The Royal Guard’ Henry showcased his athleticism by winning the Dunk Contest. The final standings of the tournament were as follows: Liman (SRB) in first, followed by Baskets Bonn Telekom (GER), Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL), Marijampole Mantinga (LTU), Riffa (BRN), Chongming (CHN), Carolina (PUR), Doha (QAT), Hangzhou (CHN), Bordeaux (FRA), Gargzdai (LTU), and Zavkhan (MGL).
