A light aircraft crashed at an airfield, police said.

Suffolk Police were sent to Nayland Airfield after the incident on Tuesday morning at about 11:30 BST.

The pilot was the only person on board, and no other aircraft or person was involved in the incident, the force said.

No details of any injuries have been released, and it has not been confirmed if the plane was landing or taking off.

Nayland airfield has one runway for planes to both take off and land on, with planes landing uphill.

It was expected that the Civil Aviation Authority would launch an investigation.
