Kim Kardashian's Paris Robbery Becomes Gripping Documentary
Nearly a decade after one of the most harrowing celebrity crimes in recent memory, “The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist” is set to premiere exclusively in Australia, pulling back the curtain on the night the reality star was bound, gagged, and held at gunpoint in a Paris hotel.
Paramount Australia has secured the exclusive local premiere rights to the gripping new documentary, which will stream from June 26th on 10 Play and air on 10 at 8.30pm on July 3rd, followed by a release on Paramount+ on July 4th.
Produced by Firecracker Films for BBC Three and BBC Current Affairs, and distributed globally by Passion Distribution, “The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist” offers an intimate and deeply unsettling look at the infamous 2016 robbery, during which Kardashian was robbed of more than $10 million worth of jewellery — including her engagement ring from then-husband Kanye West — during Paris Fashion Week.
Drawing on exclusive interviews with close friends of the Kardashian family, French law enforcement, and journalists who covered the case extensively, the documentary reveals chilling new details of the crime and its aftermath, including the recent verdicts that saw eight people convicted in a French court. Most of those sentenced are now in their 60s and 70s and have been dubbed the “Grandpa Robbers” by French media.
Far from harmless, the elderly criminals were described by the prosecution as “seasoned robbers,” responsible for a violent and traumatic heist that left a lasting psychological impact on Kardashian. In court, she recalled thinking she was about to be raped or killed after masked men dressed as police burst into her room, tied her up, and held a gun to her back.
“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family,” Kardashian said in a statement following the verdict, per BBC. “While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all.”
The documentary doesn’t shy away from the brutality of that night, or the courtroom drama that followed. Despite DNA evidence, confessions, and damning witness testimony, sentences handed down to the robbers were lighter than expected, largely due to health concerns and time already served. None of the convicted are expected to return to prison.
With a mix of powerful storytelling and fresh revelations, “The Kim Kardashian Diamond Heist” goes beyond the tabloid headlines, painting a nuanced picture of celebrity, vulnerability, and justice nearly ten years after one of the most surreal episodes in pop culture history.
