Former stars and have traded reality TV for podcasting (and other ventures) but the Disrespectfully hosts took to Reddit this week to spill the tea about their respective time on the series– the good, the bad and the (allegedly) fake. In a joint Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) this week, both Katie and Dayna admitted that there are things about being on reality TV that they miss. 

  As fans know, Katie starred on ‘Vanderpump Rules’ for 11 seasons, while Dayna was only part of the main cast in Season 8. In April 2024 (after the Season 11 finale had aired), ‘Vanderpump Rules’ was “put on pause” and it was announced months later that the show would be getting an entirely new cast for Season 12. 

Katie later told fans that she had informed the show’s producers after the Season 11 finale that she wasn’t planning to return for Season 12, claiming that she had “hit a wall,” however, while participating

“ … it was a lot of fun,” Katie said. “What I don’t miss is having little life that was for myself.” 

As for Dayna, she said she mostly misses the “cool things” she got to do outside of the show during that time, though she doesn’t miss “fighting about s**t I didn’t care about with people I did not respect.” 

Katie and Dayna were also asked about their chosen career paths, with Katie telling fans that she doesn’t regret the “chunk of life” she spent on TV, and Dayna revealing that she wishes she had been “less afraid” of leaving her corporate job back in the day so that she could have given her standup comedy career a shot at a younger age. Fans may remember watching Dayna perform standup on ‘Vanderpump Rules’ in Season 8, though she revealed during the AMA this week that she quit pursuing comedy after COVID and “never started again.” 

“ … [I’m] too scared now, wish I had gotten back on the horse sooner,” she added. 

Dayna also revealed that “the entire storyline” on the show of how she was introduced to the group– specifically the claim that she was working at to support her standup comedy career– was fake. Dayna said that she was actually working a “high-powered corporate job” when she began filming for ‘Vanderpump Rules’ and that production basically made her “work” at SUR so that she could be fit into the friend group on the show. 

While Katie actually was employed at SUR when filming began for Season 1 (and beyond), she told viewers in the series premiere that her dream was to own her own record label, which she claims is still her dream today. 

“ … I see myself doing this type of work in the near future,” she told fans this week. 

Katie and Dayna were also asked about some of the events that went on during filming, with Katie assuring fans that the only kind of “preseason agreement” she and her fellow cast mates ever made was to “just bring it and be open and honest” on-camera. She and Dayna also agreed that everyone in the cast surprised them at some point over the course of the show, but one person stands out in particular. 

“In some ways everyone [surprised us] but [] did her big one,” they said, presumably referring to Rachel and ’s ‘Scandoval’ affair.

As fans know, the fourth wall was broken in the final moments of Season 11– courtesy of – however, Katie said this week that it “should have been broken a lot more.” 

“That wall should’ve been blown open in Season 11,” she added.

Unsurprisingly, the podcast hosts were also asked to weigh in on the ‘Vanderpump Rules’ spin-off, , which is currently in its second season. Despite the Bravo series featuring a handful of former ‘Vanderpump Rules’ stars, Katie and Dayna noted the “darkness” the show has compared to its predecessor. 

“We think the friendship dynamic is very different, the history isn’t as rich,” they said. “So therefore, the stakes are different. There’s a certain darkness about it.” 

While on the topic of relationships and filming, Katie and Dayna said that some relationships– with friends and/or romantic partners– probably would have ended sooner if they weren’t filming for ‘Vanderpump Rules.’

“I think it’s fair to say that some would have [ended sooner],” they told fans. “Being on the show and being genuine friends with people, it’s hard when relationships run their course but you still have strong ties.”

As told you in April, Katie revealed on her ex-husband Tom Schwartz’s podcast that while she “wouldn’t want to change anything” about her ‘Vanderpump Rules’ experience, there were times “that were really f**ing difficult” for her– a feeling she was reminded of after watching an episode of ‘The Valley.’ 

“ … I’m so glad I’m not filming a TV show because I’m just thinking about their walk-ups that they’re doing, having the conversations that they don’t want to have … it can be really draining,” she said. “It can also be the best f**king time ever, but where I’m at now, I’m really happy just getting to enjoy my life and the way I want to enjoy it.” 

Katie went on to reveal on Schwartz’s podcast in April that after filming the show together for so many years, she had hoped that she and her ‘Vanderpump Rules’ cast mates could have “gone out on some kind of high note,” or at the very least, known ahead of time that Season 11 would be their last time filming together. 

“[We could have been like,] let’s just put our hearts in it,” she said at the time. “We don’t need to f**k with each other after [this].”
