LG poll: Osolana berates Agege council boss over poor comment
One of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship aspirants in Agege Local Council, Sola Osolana, has chided the outgoing council boss, Ganiyu Egunjobi, over his alleged malicious statement.
According to the news report circulated in the media, Egunjobi was said to have called philanthropist-turned-politician, Osolana, a United Kingdom (UK)-based resident.
Egunjobi spoke in reaction to the fallout of chairmanship and councillorship primaries of the party in Agege and Orile Agege LCDAs for the forthcoming council elections in the state scheduled for July 12, 2025. He said: “Those making these false claims are sore losers, and for years had ostracised themselves from the APC and our communities.”
Osolana, in his reaction, said: “I am a resident of Agege who has chains of businesses in the council area for many years.
“While many politicians are afraid of putting their businesses here, I have many residents as employees and they are performing well for themselves and the organisations.”
MEANWHILE, the APC in Agege and Orile-Agege LCDAs has dismissed what it described as “cheap blackmail” and “false narratives” regarding the health of its Agege local council chairmanship candidate, Tunde Azeez.
The chairmanship candidate for Orile-Agege LCDA, Akinola Idowu, while speaking during a media briefing, condemned the protests against their candidacies as the work of “politicians lacking sportsmanship.”
He urged the public to disregard the “false narratives” being spread by disgruntled aspirants, affirming that the Agege’s council primaries were “transparent, free and fair.”
Responding to claims of imposition and the health status of Azeez, Idowu remarked: “We do not find it amusing that they resort to cheap blackmail following their defeats, spreading falsehoods about the health of Azeez, his running mate Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of our leader, Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, and accusing them of imposition.”
