Veteran journalist Leonard Mambo Mbotela, known for his 'Je, Huu Ni Ungwana?' program, has died.

Confirming his death, the family of the deceased said he had been unwell for some time before passing away on Friday at 9:30 a.m.
The veteran journalist passed away at the age of 85 years leaving behind a legacy of credible and exceptional journalism.
Mbotela is survived by his wife, Alice Mwikali, and three children, Aida, Jimmy, and George Mbotela.
Mbotela was a distinguished journalist who spent decades working for the state-owned Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
His 'Je, Huu Ni Ungwana?' show on KBC captivated audiences as it highlighted and critiqued various societal behaviours.
He was also known for his dynamic commentary on football and national events, a role that elevated him to one of the country's top legendary journalists.
According to IDMb, Mbotela began his career as a trainee reporter at 'Kenya Weekly News' and later worked at 'The East African Standard' before joining the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), then known as Voice of Kenya, where he became a full-time employee in 1964.
Kenyans who admired the veteran journalist quickly took to social media to mourn Mbotela’s passing.

A video has resurfaced showing the veteran journalist sharing how he wished to be remembered after his demise.
In the video, Mbotela appeared healthy and composed as he calmly responded to the question about how he wished to be remembered.
He stated calmly that he wanted the government to remember him after his passing. He added that he hoped for a memorial honouring his life, work, and contributions over the years to inspire future generations.
Mbotela added that he would have liked to be placed in a national museum for tourists to admire him and his work.
He said he would greatly appreciate being recognized in that way.
