Las Vegas Aces vs Washington Mystics Home Opener

The Las Vegas Aces (1-1) are set to face the Washington Mystics (2-1) in their home opener on Friday night, marking their first game at ‘The House’ for the 2025 season. The game is scheduled to air on ION and Vegas 34, with tip-off at 7 pm PT.
Before the game begins, a special ceremony will honor Chelsea Gray, Jewell Loyd, A’ja Wilson, and Jackie Young. USA Basketball CEO Jim Tooley will present them with commemorative rings to celebrate their leadership in securing an Olympic gold medal for the USA in Paris last summer.
The Aces experienced a bumpy start to the season, losing their opener to New York due to a 34.1% shooting performance from the field. However, they quickly recovered with an 87-62 victory over Connecticut. A’ja Wilson continues to be a key player for the Aces, averaging 26.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. The Aces offense is further supported by Jackie Young, who averages 16.0 points and 3.5 assists per game, Jewell Loyd with 12.5 points per game, and Chelsea Gray with 12.0 points and 4.0 assists per game. Kiah Stokes, who is featured on a commemorative pin for the first 7,500 fans, is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. Overall, Las Vegas is shooting 36.2% from the field and from 3-point range.
After a challenging 2024 season where they started 0-12 and finished 14-26, the Washington Mystics have shown improvement at the beginning of 2025. With several new players, the Mystics began with a 2-0 record before losing a close game to Golden State with a score of 76-74. Veteran guard Brittney Sykes leads the Mystics, averaging career-best numbers with 26.3 points and 5.0 assists per game, while shooting 42.3% from the field. New additions Sonia Citron (14.7 ppg), Kiki Iriafen (13.7 ppg and 10.0 rpg), and third-year guard Jade Melbourne (11.3 ppg) are also contributing to Washington’s offense.
The Aces hold a 32-28 regular season advantage over Washington, having won the last four encounters and 6 of the last 10 games. The teams are scheduled to meet three more times this season, with one game in Las Vegas on June 26 and two in Washington on July 10 and August 23.
Looking ahead, the Aces will travel to Seattle to play against the Seattle Storm (1-1) on Sunday, May 25. The game is scheduled for 3 pm and will be broadcast on Vegas 34 in the Las Vegas area.
