Landslide-prone areas will be surveyed: Kore | Kolhapur News - Times of India
Kolhapur: A thorough survey will be conducted in areas around Panhala Fort and Jyotiba mountain in the wake of rising number of landslides in the last few years, said Panhala MLA Dr Vinay Kore.
The decision was taken in a meeting, chaired by Kore, in Warnanagar on Wednesday in the presence of Public Works Department (PWD) officials and former mayors. In the meeting, Kore said, "The number of landslides and rock falls on the main road of Panhala Fort has increased in the last four to five years. Safety of tourists and locals should not be put at risk. People have raised concerns to take measures in the past. Accordingly, a survey should immediately be carried out."To this, a PWD official said, a tender was issued through a World Bank committee. Under this a survey of the Panhala and Jyotiba hill areas will be conducted by a qualified consultant, based on which expert consultants will suggest solutions.
