Highway 138 was closed from Old Mill Road to the 15 Freeway. Highway 173 was closed at Highway 138 to Summit Valley.

The Lake fire was burning southwest of Silverwood Lake, according to Cal Fire San Bernardino spokesperson Alison Hesterly. Winds were pushing the fire to the northwest and crews were attacking the fire on the ground and with aircraft. It was burning in heavy brush, Cal Fire said.

No injuries have been reported due to the fire, which was reported around 4 p.m. Fire officials anticipate the possibility of the fire growing to 1,000 acres. There was zero containment of the fire by around 8:45 p.m. Saturday, and by then the fire had been measured at 477 acres, Cal Fire said.

Temperatures in nearby Victorville reached 97 degrees on Saturday while winds were blowing at 26 mph, with gusts of 30 mph, the National Weather Service said.

It wasn’t immediately known what caused the fire. The San Bernardino National Forest, the San Bernardino County Fire Department and Cal Fire San Bernardino were working together in the effort to contain the fire.

This is a developing story.
