Kindiki says Gov't has committed billions to revive stalled projects, spur development
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that the government has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to revive all stalled infrastructure projects across the nation.
Speaking during a development tour of Kitui West Constituency, the Deputy President reaffirmed President William Ruto’s administration’scommitment to grassroots-driven economic transformation.
To achieve this, Kindiki revealed that the government has allocated sufficient resources to revive and complete all delayed road projects, while also initiating new ones to enhance the movement of goods and people.
“We have allocated sufficient resources to revive and complete all stalled roads projects countrywide and initiate new ones to facilitate easier and effective movement of people and goods,” he stated.
In Kitui County alone, Kindiki highlighted that six major roads are currently under construction. These include the 27-kilometre Kwa Siku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road, costing KSh 3.5 billion, and the Kamuwongo–Kandwia section of the Mwingi–Tseikuru Road, which costs KSh 975 million. The Zombe–Chuluni Road is also part of this initiative.
He confirmed that the Enziu Bridge, a critical transport link in the region, is set to be completed this year at a cost of KSh 165 million.
In addition to road projects, the Deputy President announced that under the ongoing Last Mile Electricity Connectivity Programme, Kitui County has been allocated KSh 2.1 billion to connect more households to the national grid. Of this allocation, KSh 200 million has been designated for Kitui West Constituency.
During his visit, the Deputy President joined other leaders in supporting women-led micro and small enterprises through SACCOs, underlining the government’s commitment to inclusive economic empowerment under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
He also took the opportunity to inform residents about the status of various national government programmes and projects being implemented in the region.
MPs Rachael Nyamai (Kitui South), Mwengi Mutuse (Kibwezi West), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Fabian Kyule (Kangundo), Beth Syengo (Nominated Senator), Livestock Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke, Members of the Kitui County Assembly led by Speaker Kelvin Katisya, and other leaders were present.
