Kogi APC leaders woo lone ADC rep member - Daily Trust

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State have intensified efforts to woo the lone Action Democratic Congress (ADC) member in the House of Representatives, Hon. Leke Abejide, into their fold.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed that Governor Usman Ododo’s inclusive leadership style and peace-driven approach have created a welcoming atmosphere that appeals to opposition figures like Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency.

Fanwo described Abejide as a natural progressive whose achievements align more with the APC than with the ADC. “ADC is too small for his status,” he said. “Many of us have begun urging him to return to the progressive family.”

He recounted how Governor Ododo, even before his election, reached across party lines to engage with key figures. “He disarmed opponents with his peaceful disposition. Today, the opposition is dying in Kogi,” Fanwo added.

He also praised Abejide’s performance, noting that the lawmaker has shown dedication to his constituency. “I’m from Yagba, and I’m one of those calling for his defection. We’ll campaign across all 34 wards to support his continuity beyond 2027.”

Fanwo hinted that Abejide’s ranking in the National Assembly benefits the constituency and urged patience from those advocating for rotation. “A ranking member brings more to the table than a newcomer. After his third term, it can rotate. But for now, it’s Leke Abejide beyond 2027,” he said.

He assured constituents that “the big fish” is on his way to the APC.
