Long Island native Kevin James surprised concertgoers in Ohio when he joined country artist Jelly Roll on stage during a live performance at the Buckeye Country Superfest on June 21.

The comedian appeared during Jelly Roll’s performance of "Need a Favor" at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, where the country star headlined the multi-artist festival. James wore a black vest, jeans and a backward baseball cap to match the singer as they sang and danced together on stage.

A fan-recorded TikTok of the moment quickly gained traction online, with viewers pointing out the resemblance between the two performers. James joined Jelly Roll again the following night at the Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood, New Jersey.

James, 60, grew up in Setauket and graduated from Ward Melville High School. He began his career in stand-up comedy on Long Island in 1989 at the now-closed East Side Comedy Club in Huntington, owned by comedian Richie Minervini.

The comedian has since become well known for his humorous performances in television and film, including the sitcoms "The King of Queens" and "Kevin Can Wait," and movies such as "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" and "Grown Ups."

He is scheduled to begin a new stand-up comedy tour this fall with an Oct. 5 stop at The Paramount in Huntington. Tickets are available at kevinjames.com.

Jelly Roll, 40, born Jason DeFord, is a four-time Grammy nominee. He is known for blending country, rock and rap influences and has built a wide following through his music and live performances.

Representatives for James and Jelly Roll did not respond to Newsday's requests for comments.
