Kenyan government 'reaches out' to Muhoozi after negative newspaper article
Supporters of Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba have called off a protest they had planned at the Kenyan Embassy in Kampala.
Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) had scheduled to march to the High Commission in Kololo to express their displeasure over a lead story published by the Kenyan-based Standard Newspaper.
The article which described Gen Muhoozi as a “Four-star brat” was published on Friday, February 28th.

Muhoozi was angered by the paper, calling for its ban in Uganda.
The First Son and his supporters appeared particularly surprised that he could be attacked by a media company owned by the son of a friend of President Yoweri Museveni.
The Standard Media Group is owned by Gideon Moi, son of former Kenyan President Daniel Arap Moi
“I hear @StandardKenya is owned by Gideon Moi. He thinks abusing me is a simple thing? He will never make a shilling in Uganda again! We are going for ALL his businesses,” Muhoozi wrote on X.
Days later, the Standard paper appeared to change tone, publishing a more flattering story of Gen Muhoozi, highlighting his military accomplishments.
Addressing the press at their offices, the PLU leadership said following their planned protest, the Kenyan government through its High Commission had reached out directly to Gen Muhoozi to get the matter resolved.

“We wish to inform the country that the planned demonstration at the Kenyan High Commission has been called off due to the fact that the Kenyan High Commission has reached out to our chairman in a bid to resolve this matter diplomatically,” said Michael Mawanda, the PLU Vice Chairman.
Mwanda thanked the Kenyan government for taken proactive steps to have the spat ironed out.
