The Kenyan government’s 'Kazi Majuu' initiative runs nationwide recruitment drives to place youth in jobs across the Gulf and other markets.

Kenyan youths who secured job offers during the recent recruitment exercises in the coast region have been directed to report this Friday, June 21, 2025, to designated venues across the region to begin the application process for Youth Fund migration loans.

According to a notice issued by the Cabinet secretary, applicants must report to the following locations starting from 9am:

The exercise targets youth who received offer letters during the recently concluded Kazi Majuu recruitment drives in Malindi, Kilifi, Mombasa, and Ukunda.

Mutua said that each participant is required to bring a copy of their valid job offer letter, a copy of their passport, KSh 300 for lawyer notarisation, and details of an active bank account. Those without accounts will be assisted in opening one on-site.

Youth Fund application forms will be provided and must be completed during the session.

The Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) Migration Loan programme was introduced to help Kenyan youth who secure jobs abroad to meet their pre-departure costs.

The funding programme under the government's 'Kazi Majuu' initiative is open to youth aged 18 to 34 who hold valid passports and signed employment contracts for overseas jobs.

The funds cover essential expenses such as passports, visas, air tickets, medical examinations, vaccinations, professional tests, and mandatory pre-departure training.

Earlier, Mutua announced that the eligible youths can access loans of up to KSh 300,000.

The minimum loan that can be given is KSh 10,000 according to the YEDF.

According to Labour PS Shadrack Mwadime, the structured loan scheme ensures that costs like agent fees and airfare don’t hinder Kenyan youths from accessing job opportunities abroad.

The loans are offered on a six-month repayment term, which can be shortened based on arrangement, and require basic collateral such as a guarantor from the employer or the applicant’s family. Repayments begin once the applicant starts earning abroad.

Besides financial support, YEDF works with accredited training partners to offer pre-interview coaching and pre-departure orientation.
