Kazakhstan Strengthens Regional Cooperation with New Flights to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and China - Travel And Tour World

Kazakhstan significantly enhances air connectivity through the launching of some new international routes in 2025 with the aim to enhance tourism, trade, and regional cooperation. Fly Arystan, the low-cost airline in Kazakhstan, is leading the charge through new routes between Kyrgyzstan’s Issyk-Kul and Almaty. The airline will operate four times weekly services on Sundays and Thursdays, and initial services will take off July 3, 2025. Routes will interconnect Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan, and Issyk-Kul, which is a popular resort destination in Kyrgyzstan and known for its beautiful lake and alpine tourism sites.
The start of the flights is consistent with the broader goals of Kazakhstan itself to increase regional cooperation with its closest neighbors, in this case Kyrgyzstan, and increase the development of tourism and commerce. By broadening travel between Issyk-Kul and Almaty, Kazakhstan aims to stimulate its tourism sector and forge stronger linkage with the Kyrgyz Republic.
In a similar move, Uzbekistan’s Centrum Air is expanding its network with two new routes to Kazakhstan. Beginning July 3, the airline will operate regular flights from Nukus, the capital of Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan region, to Almaty and Aktau. Flights between Nukus and Almaty will run on Thursdays and Saturdays, while the Nukus to Aktau service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays. These new routes are designed to strengthen transportation links between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, boosting regional tourism and facilitating trade between the two nations.
Centrum Air also recently launched a new Tashkent to Almaty route, which will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. This addition further enhances connectivity between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, offering more options for business and leisure travelers between the two countries. The growing network from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan highlights the increasing demand for travel in Central Asia, where air travel is becoming a critical element of regional economic integration.
China Southern Airlines has also expanded its services to Kazakhstan, inaugurating a new international route between Guangzhou and Almaty on June 25, 2025. The new service operates three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, reinforcing the growing air ties between Kazakhstan and China. This new route will not only improve passenger convenience but also facilitate greater economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in areas like tourism, trade, and logistics.
The Guangzhou–Almaty route, operated by China Southern Airlines, marks a key milestone in Kazakhstan’s efforts to improve its global connectivity and access to major Asian markets. With China being one of Kazakhstan’s largest trading partners, the new flights are expected to further enhance bilateral relations and attract more Chinese tourists to Kazakhstan. This service complements existing routes and adds another layer of convenience for travelers looking to connect between China and Kazakhstan.
The expansion of these routes is part of Kazakhstan’s broader aviation strategy, which aims to increase the country’s access to global markets. According to the Kazakh Ministry of Transport, 32 new international routes are planned for launch in 2025. Of these, 15 destinations will be entirely new for Kazakh travelers, providing them with more travel options and connecting Kazakhstan to major cities in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
This initiative reflects Kazakhstan’s ongoing efforts to open up new air routes, encourage international tourism, and promote the country as a strategic hub for business and trade in Central Asia. The new routes also aim to meet the growing demand for direct flights, providing better connectivity to and from Kazakhstan’s major cities, such as Almaty, Nur-Sultan, and Shymkent.
Kazakhstan’s expanding network of international flights will have a significant impact on both tourism and trade in the region.
