Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar proudly acknowledges the “flag-bearer of nepotism” tag. Having launched and made careers of many star kids until now, he never shies away from supporting them in their still-flourishing careers. Having shared a close relationship with Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan for decades now, he has closely seen their kids Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan, and AbRam Khan growing up. With the former two working hard towards building a career in the Hindi entertainment industry, Johar recently heaped praises on them.

For those who don’t know, Suhana made her acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s Netflix film The Archies (2023), which also launched Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, and Agastya Nanda. The movie was subjected to negative criticisms from the netizens as well as the critics. She is currently gearing up to shoot her upcoming film King, starring SRK. On the other hand, Aryan will be making his directorial debut Netflix show titled The Ba****ds of Bollywood. An update on the show is yet to be made.

Opening up about the two starkids, Johar heaped praises on them during a chat on Raj Shamani’s podcast. He explained how he has watched the 24-year-old actress’ student films, seen the work she “put into her craft.” He shared that when the audience watches her on a “large scale” with her father in King, “they’ll feel that she is a tremendous talent,” he added. Quoted by the Indian Express, he said, “She’s going to do phenomenally well. I’m not just saying this because she’s like my daughter, I’m saying this because I believe that there is a massive, solid artist in Suhana Khan.”

Moving on to the 27-year-old upcoming filmmaker, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director revealed that he believes in the former’s directorial talent. Calling Aryan a “rare personality type,” Karan added, “I don’t want to say anything about his Netflix show, because he’ll get very angry, but all I’ll say is this: watch out. If there is a King, there will be a Prince. I can say this with confidence, because I’ve seen the show. He has an individualistic voice as a director. He’s not anything like you’d expect Shah Rukh Khan’s son to be. He’s his own person. He works quietly, he doesn’t carry the baggage of his father, he doesn’t carry the weight of his legacy. He works hard; he works 20 hours a day.”

Recalling SRK’s elder son’s competitive nature, the filmmaker shared how it has been gratifying to see him grow up and stand on his two feet. He explained that be it board games, sports or even helming a massive series like The Ba****ds of Bollywood, Aryan likes to win. He takes losses personally, and he gets even more “motivated by success.” Having carried him in his arms, he added, “In many ways, he’s the first-born to all of us.”

Further in the interview, the 52-year-old filmmaker also opened up about the upcoming talents in Bollywood. Lauding the trailer of Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor’s survival thriller film Tu Yaa Main, he expressed that Lakshya has “great star potential.” Johar went on to heap praises on budding talents Raghav Juyal, Agastya Nanda, and Vedang Raina.
