Published 8 hours ago2 minute read

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has called for the prosecution of those responsible for the killing of 12 Kaduna citizens in Mangun, Plateau State.

The governor condemned the attack, describing it as “an act of savagery,” and insisted that the perpetrators must be “fished out and dealt with accordingly.”

In a statement personally signed by Governor Sani over the weekend, he said, “We received with shock and deep sorrow news of the killing of 12 Kaduna State citizens in the troubled Mangun District of Mangu Local Council of Plateau State,” adding that “11 others sustained various degrees of injuries.”

According to the governor, the victims were innocent travellers heading to Quan Pan Local Council of Plateau State for a wedding ceremony when they were attacked.

“We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery. The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. We call on security agencies to leave no stone unturned until these criminal elements are hunted down and brought to justice,” he stated.

Sani emphasised the need to curb the activities of non-state actors, insisting that there is no justification for attacking Nigerian citizens anywhere in the country.

He also urged Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang to use the incident as an opportunity to take decisive action. “He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice,” Sani stressed.

The governor pledged to personally follow up on the progress of the investigation and field operations. “We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated,” he said, while urging Kaduna citizens to remain calm.

He extended his condolences to the families of the victims, assuring them of his support.
