NSGF chair condemns Plateau massacre of Kaduna wedding guests - Blueprint Newspapers Limited
Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and governor of Gombe state, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Sunday strongly condemned the brutal killing of travelers from Kaduna state in Mangu local government area of Plateau state.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the director general press affairs, Gombe Government House, Mr Ismaila Uba Misilli, and made available to newsmen in Gombe.
The victims, who were reportedly journeying to attend a wedding ceremony, were ambushed and murdered in what Governor Yahaya described as “a barbaric and cowardly act” that has no place in civilised society.
“I am deeply saddened by this horrific and inhumane attack. Such mindless violence against innocent citizens is unacceptable and must be met with swift and decisive justice,” he said.
Governor Yahaya extended his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kaduna state, especially the grieving families of the victims and prayed for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones during this painful time.
He commended the Plateau state government and security agencies for their prompt intervention and the swift arrest of suspects linked to the attack.
He also called for a thorough investigation and immediate prosecution of the perpetrators of the crime and added that accountability must not be delayed.
“The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to justice. This is not just about punishing wrongdoers, it is about restoring public confidence in the rule of law and upholding the rights of every Nigerian citizen,” the governor stated.
