The presidential jet landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport around 4:15pm on Tuesday.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, along with other top government officials, received the president at the airport.
The president is expected to deliver a speech alongside other West African leaders at the ECOWAS event on Wednesday.
A statement by Bayo Onanuga, presidential media aide, on Monday, had said Yakubu Gowon, the only surviving head of state, who signed the ECOWAS declaration, would also deliver a speech.
Omar Touray, president of the ECOWAS commission, is expected to deliver the welcome address, while Bolaji Akinyemi, a former minister of external affairs, will review the bloc’s 50-year journey.
On May 31, Tinubu will commission some projects in Lagos.
The projects include section I of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, the Lekki deep seaport tax credit concrete road, the flag-off of section II of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway, and the 7th Axial Road.
Tinubu will also virtually commission some projects, including the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road and Yakasai-Zalli road, and flag off the Kano northern By-pass, Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai Section I, Dabai-Kafur Malumfashi, and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Daya Section III.
The president will observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the state house, Dodan barracks, before returning to Abuja.
