and Lauren Sánchez have jetted off on their dream honeymoon. The newlyweds are reportedly unwinding at one of Europe's most iconic hotels, which TV fans will recognize from The White Lotus.Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are on their honeymoon at the famous San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily.

The luxurious hotel, steeped in history and celebrity visits, boasts breathtaking views and five-star elegance. Their post-wedding vacation follows a star-studded, contentious celebration in Venice.

The popular HBO series The White Lotus, which parodies the lives of the ultra-wealthy as they reside in a new opulent hotel each season, focused on the hotel in its second season, as per a report by the Daily Beast.

The newlyweds will board Bezos' $500 million superyacht Koru and travel to Taormina, a source told the Daily Mail.
While sailing the Aeolian Islands with the couple last year, Bezos reportedly fell in love with the town. Elizabeth Taylor, Greta Garbo, Audrey Hepburn, and Oscar Wilde have all visited the opulent hotel. In 2017, it also hosted the G7 summit, which brought together world leaders.

The hotel's most well-known role to date is from 2022's The White Lotus. The final episode of that season attracted 4.1 million viewers in the United States, a record that was quickly broken this year by the season 3 finale, which drew 6.2 million viewers.

The cost of the couple's extravagant wedding is far higher than the $8,000 per night rooms at the San Domenico Palace can fetch. According to People, the estimated cost of Sánchez's ring alone ranges from $3 million to $5 million.

About 200 celebrities and billionaires attended the wedding, occupying the Marco Polo airport as they arrived in private yachts and jets in Venice. Oprah Winfrey, the Kardashians, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman were among the prominent figures.

The fact that the billionaire's wedding was happening in their city did not sit well with the locals, who feared it would interfere with their daily routines and exacerbate the city's overtourism issue.

After local protests, the festivities were finally rescheduled from central Venice to the Arsenale, a former medieval shipyard on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore.

They're staying at the San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Sicily, which was featured in The White Lotus Season 2.

Why was their wedding in Venice controversial?
Locals protested due to traffic disruptions and overtourism concerns, prompting the couple to relocate the festivities to a more private island location.
