Jaelen Johnston Gives His Best Performances Yet on 'The Voice'
Jaelen Johnston is proving he has what it takes to be The Voice champion. During Part 1 of The Voice‘s season finale, the Top 5 each took the stage twice to vie for the show’s crown.
First up for Johnston, Team Kelsea Ballerini’s sole remaining contestant, was a performance of Dierks Bentley’s “What Was I Thinkin’.”
Later, Johnston closed out the show with a performance of Chris Stapleton’s “Cold.”
While Johnston’s performances were unforgettable, he’s facing stiff competition from the other finalists: Lucia Flores-Wiseman of Team Adam Levine, RENZO of Team John Legend, and Adam David and Jadyn Cree of Team Michael Bublé.
Fans will have to wait until Tuesday to see if Johnston’s time on stage was enough to crown him the next champion of The Voice.
In an interview with Nebraska radio station 987, Johnston gushed about having a country superstar as his coach on The Voice.
“She’s been awesome,” he said. “… It’s been a lot of pep talks. She’s been amazing, dude. She’s been in my corner since the Blind Auditions, giving me tips and tricks on the industry. She’s helped control my voice a little bit.”
As for his Voice journey as a whole, Johnston said it’s been “unreal.”
“I didn’t imagine I’d get to this point, but I’m super happy I did,” he said. “… We’re getting down to the finale now. It’s the last episode of season 27, so it’s a little bit bitter sweet.”
