Weather

– Jacksonville and much of Northeast Florida are set for an unsettled start to the holiday weekend.

There’s a 50% chance of tropical development within the next seven days, focusing on a broad area of low pressure expected to linger over Florida.

Even if this potential system remains weak, the main headline is rain.

Rain chances move in as the stalled low-pressure system sets up over the region, likely leading to widespread showers Friday and into the weekend.

The highest rainfall totals stretch from Jacksonville south, with some locations projected to receive up to 2 inches in places like Gainesville and Palatka.

Hot, muggy weather is refusing to take a break.

The exact track 4D forecast includes highs in the upper 80s and close to 90 degrees through the weekend and into next week.

Current conditions are 76 degrees at Jacksonville International Airport, 75 in St. Augustine, and 80 in Mayport under a summerlike weather routine that’s been the story for more than a month.

Temperatures are expected to continue in the 80s to low 90s, with daily rain chances remaining high.

With July 4th tomorrow, questions keep coming up about whether evening fireworks can go off as planned.

Rain chances remain around 70% from 6 to 8 p.m., but are expected to taper off by 8 p.m., with conditions becoming more favorable by 9 p.m.

Temperatures around fireworks hour are expected in the low to mid 80s.

If you’re celebrating early or out enjoying the warm evenings, be mindful of steady rain and keep an eye on changing radar.
