Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed her renewed optimism for Ghana's future following her return to the country after recovering from a recent illness that kept her away from public duties for several weeks.

“It is a joy to be back, and I look forward to us coming together to build a united and prosperous nation for all. Thank you very much and God bless us all," she wrote on her X page on Friday May 23, 2025.

On Sunday, March 30, 2025, the Spokesperson to the President and Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced that the Vice President received treatment at University of Ghana Medical Centre due to a sudden illness that occurred after work on Friday, March 28, 2025.

She subsequently took a medical leave during which she sought treatment abroad.

Her return was confirmed earlier by President Mahama during his “Thank You Tour” in Dodowa on May 16, 2025.

She was welcomed home by President John Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama, along with a delegation that included Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Finance minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, her family members, clergy, and other senior government officials.
