India and Pakistan Tensions Escalate

The conflict between India and Pakistan has escalated, with both countries trading blame for initiating attacks. India accuses Pakistan of using drones and other munitions along their border, while Pakistan claims to have destroyed Indian Army checkpoints in Kashmir. These accusations have intensified since the conflict's escalation on Wednesday.

Pakistan vowed retaliation following Indian strikes on Pakistani territory and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. In response, Indian officials reported that Pakistan launched airstrikes on military sites in India and Indian-administered Kashmir, a claim Pakistan denies. Pakistan also asserted that it downed over two dozen Indian drones.

Casualties have risen on both sides. Pakistan claimed to have killed 40 to 50 Indian soldiers along Kashmir's de facto border. India reported that cross-border Pakistani shelling resulted in at least 16 deaths in Indian-administered Kashmir. Earlier, Pakistan's military reported that at least 31 civilians were killed in India's initial attack.

The recent escalation is linked to a prior incident where militants killed over two dozen civilians, primarily tourists, in Indian-controlled Kashmir. India has accused Pakistan of involvement in this act, which Pakistan has denied.

The conflict has also highlighted the potential performance of Chinese military technology against Western hardware. Specifically, Pakistan claimed to have used Chinese-made AVIC J-10C jets to shoot down Indian fighter jets. China is a primary arms supplier to Pakistan, and this conflict could provide valuable real-world data on the effectiveness of its weapon systems.

India launched a military attack against Pakistan, targeting what it described as "terrorist infrastructure" in response to the civilian massacre in Indian-administered Kashmir. Pakistan vowed retaliation. The US has assessed that Pakistani forces shot down an Indian jet during these strikes. Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian Air Force jets, including three French-made warplanes; India has not responded to these claims.

India stated it repelled Pakistani attacks along the "entire Western border" and accused Pakistan of "numerous cease fire violations" along the Line of Control. Pakistan's military claimed to have killed 40 to 50 Indian troops and downed 29 Indian drones. India reported intercepting missiles fired from Pakistan.

Explosions were reported in Jammu city, in Indian-administered Kashmir, accompanied by a blackout. Heavy shelling was reported in Uri, also in Indian-administered Kashmir. Reports of explosions were also received in Pathankot, India’s Punjab state.

Commercial airlines in India have issued warnings for passengers to arrive early at airports due to enhanced security measures. Widespread reports indicate people are fleeing their homes due to ongoing gunfire and shelling, seeking safety in bunkers. At least 16 people on the Indian side have been killed. Residents in Amritsar, near the Pakistani border, have been advised to stay indoors.

In a separate matter, Reliance Industries rolled back a trademark application for "Operation Sindoor" that had been mistakenly filed by a junior employee.
