Imo Governor Uzodimma Dismisses State Attorney General Akaolisa

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has approved the immediate removal of Cyprian O. C. Akaolisa from his position as the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice. The decision was communicated through a press statement issued by Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation, and Strategy.

Mr. Akaolisa has been instructed to hand over all government property in his possession to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice without delay. The official statement detailed this directive: "The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate removal of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, C.O.C Akaolisa, from office. The erstwhile commissioner has been directed to hand over all government property under his care to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, immediately."

Cyprian O. C. Akaolisa was reportedly a key member of Governor Uzodimma's administration, often described as part of the "kitchen cabinet," and had held the post of Attorney General since the governor's first term. His dismissal occurs shortly after another significant change in the state's judiciary, where the newly appointed Chief Justice, Theophilus Nzeukwu, was removed from office following recommendations from the Nigeria Judicial Council (NJC) which faulted the process of his emergence.
