'I've earned £300k on clothes resale sites - here are my top 5 tips for success' - Leeds Live
A woman who's earned more than £300,000 on resale websites and apps like Vinted and eBay has shared the key to her success.
Becky Chorlton regularly shares details of her thrifting exploits online, with one of her TikTok videos - in which she bought a a package of lost luggage - amassing almost 15 million views alone.
Having made her an astonishing six-figure sum, Becky is now looking to give something back to the reselling community, and has come up with a list of her top five sales methods to help others achieve success too.
Becky's first tip centres on the addition of new stock as she advises listing more and more goods throughout the day, rather than all in one go. "Stagger your post listings," she said. "Some in the morning, some in the afternoon and some in the evening."
She added: "This just maximises the potential for more people to view your listings and your profile."
Next, Becky stressed the importance of never underestimating social media. "Even if you are starting from zero followers, I promise it is worth posting," she explained, before acknowledging that TikTok "changed her life".
Becky went onto advise that checking car boot sales for potential resale stock can often prove fruitful. "I promise it's where all the cheapest stock is," she added.
"You can find one by searching car boots near me and joining Facebook groups."
Fourth on Becky's list is a practice she believes is worth avoiding - "sitting on" stock. "Do not sit on stock for longer than four months," she urged. "You're not a storage facility - if items aren't selling then get rid."
To get around this problem of unwanted stock, Becky said she uses livestream auction services such as Whatnot, which help to offload goods quicker, albeit at a discounted rate.
Becky closed with a pep talk, outlining the importance of self-belief as a key factor in contributing to success. "Stop comparing yourself to everyone else," she encouraged. "Believe in yourself - it's definitely still possible to create a side hustle or a successful business from reselling."
Writing in response, one TikTok user asked for clarification regarding Becky's fourth point. "Do you just reduce and clear out after fourth months?" they wrote.
Becky replied: "Yes I tend to sell everything starting at £1 on my whatnot auctions. Allows me to gain a customer and clear some space."
While a second person hailed her endeavours: "Aww congratulations what an achievement!" Then a third individual simply commented: "Great tips."
