has initially joined Tottenham on loan, a deal that will be made permanent in six month's time.

Ange Postecoglou has desperately needed help in defence of late, and therefore Danso's arrival will be extremely welcome.

Tottenham lost Radu Dragusin to injury and it seems as if a deal for Danso was fast-tracked as a result.

Of course, the Austria international has played in the Premier League before with Southampton on loan, since making a lot of progress with Lens in France.

At 26-years-old, Danso now has 112 Ligue 1 appearances and 41 Bundesliga games to his name, explaining why he's ready for another crack at English football.

That being said, Danso immediately declared his ambition to win trophies at Tottenham in an interview with Spurs Play after signing.

Tottenham have been rejected by Mathys Tel and Fikayo Tomori in recent days, but Danso insisted that he wouldn't turn down a club like Spurs, outlining what he can bring to Postecoglou's side.

: What Kevin Danso previously said about playing for Arsenal as centre-back completes Tottenham move

Danso said: "Feels amazing to be here, at the club, I've always wanted to play for a big club in the Premier League, and Tottenham Hotspur is exactly that.

"I think as soon as you hear Tottenham Hotspur is interested, the only thing you can do is say yes – amazing project to be part of and I'm happy to be here.

"I'm a quick, powerful centre-back, good on the ball, good in one vs one defending situations, that's what I thrive on and that's what I love to do, defend.

"Grew up playing academy football here (in England), growing up everyone watches the Premier League, and like I said, it's a dream come true.

"Opportunities to win trophies, I think that's every kid's dream growing up, winning trophies at a club like Tottenham Hotspur and I hope we can win a couple of those trophies."

Fortunately for Tottenham, Danso should be ready to feature in Tottenham’s crucial Carabao Cup semi-final against Liverpool next week.

Spurs will be desperate to protect their 1-0 lead at Anfield, an opportunity for Danso to realise his trophy ambition in N17 almost immediately.

Of course, Postecoglou might be sacked if Tottenham lose to Liverpool, a very important match for both club and manager.

Arne Slot's side have only lost one game at Anfield this season and drawn just twice, demonstrating the size of the task for Spurs.

But in terms of being defensively resolute on Merseyside, Danso's arrival could be very timely.
