I don't support disclosure of public officials' health condition - Edem Agbana
The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana
The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, has expressed his disapproval of calls for the disclosure of medical conditions of government officials.
He argued that such information should only be disclosed if it directly affects their ability to perform official duties.
Agbana stated that while transparency in governance is important, there must be a clear distinction between private and public matters.
“I do not subscribe to the proposition that the health conditions of government officials should automatically be made public. Unless it has a direct impact on the discharge of their duties, their medical status should remain a private matter,” he said.
Speaking on Metro TV’S Good Morning Ghana on May 23, 2025, he stressed the need for public officials to prioritise their personal health to ensure they can effectively serve the people of Ghana.
“You must be in good health to deliver on your mandate. That is why officials should take their health seriously,” he added.
Agbana also called for significant investments in Ghana’s healthcare system, urging authorities to upgrade health facilities to better serve Ghanaians.
“Our citizens deserve quality healthcare, and we must ensure our facilities meet high standards,” he said.
