The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo State has arrested some suspected drug traffickers.

Some of the suspects, who narrated how they were apprehended, regretted their action, saying they have learnt their lessons and wouldn’t indulge in illicit drug trafficking again.

One of the suspects, Miss Chike Favour (17), said she was not aware that she was selling drugs as they were always sealed by her madam.

Favour, who claimed she was brought from the village, said “I was selling drugs at the shop located at the Ekhuan barack area, when NDLEA arrested me.

“I came to Benin one week before my arrest. I was at the shop in the morning selling, when NDLEA came to arrest me but our madam was not arrested.

She regretted her action, saying she will never work in a shop where drugs are being sold again.

Also speaking, Prosper Osaro (22), who was arrested with Indian hemp at Ihama road, said he bought the drugs for his use and not to sell to others.

“I bought the cannabis for my use but I didn’t know that NDLEA officials were behind me while I was purchasing the drug and they immediately arrested me.

“I regret going into drugs, I am begging the government to help me, I will have nothing to do with drugs again,” he pleaded.

On his part, Tendway Tekuma, who was arrested at Uzebba, said he was working on a plantation farm when he was arrested.

“I was employed to work in a plantain farm, I didn’t know there was cannabis there, it was after I was arrested, I knew there was cannabis opposite the farm,” he said.

Another suspect, Godfree Osagboyan (21), who was arrested with two bags of Indian hemp, denied ownership of the drugs.

“I was working on my farm, when I spotted two bags of cannabis hidden on the farm, I don’t know who kept them there but I took them to my house. I was in my house when security men came to arrest me,” he said.

Shedrack Irekpede (24) said he was arrested by the security officials in a room where cannabis was kept.

“I went to the village to help my father with his farm work, I was sleeping in the room at night when NDLEA stormed there, searched the room and found bags of Indian hemp and I was arrested,’’ he explained.

Also, Miss Esther Abumere (28), who was arrested in her shop with Indian hemp, Canadian loud, tramadol, swinol among others, said she went into drug trafficking to offset her debt.

“I was in my shop at Ekpoma waiting for customers when the NDLEA officials stormed my shop and arrested me,’’ she said.
