How They Met: Bono and wife Ali Hewson's love story that spans 50 years
Bono certainly has found what he's looking for with wife Ali Hewson as the pair prepare to celebrate five decades together this year.
The Irish couple met in the North Dublin secondary school, Mount Temple Comprehensive, where a 12-year-old Paul Hewson met Ali Stewart- it's always weird hearing Bono's real name, isn't it?
From acting the class clown to win her affection, to raising four children together- Jordan, 36, Eve, 33, Elijah, 25, and John, 22, the couple is an exception in the showbiz world.

In his 2022 memoir, Surrender, Bono wrote that the pair were always there for each other, saying: 'Any time either of us got lost, the other would… be there to get the other one home.'
Becoming a couple aged 16, four years after meeting one another, the two became one in 1976- the same year U2 formed. However, the band wasn't an overnight success, and their first gig was in the P.E. hall!
By the time the couple said 'I Do' on August 21, 1982, at the All Saints Church in Raheny, U2 had two albums out but still hadn't reached international stardom.
Bono admitted that fame was never something Ali wanted, and instead, something she put up with.
In his memoir, he wrote: 'Ali would have been happier with a life that was simpler than the one we've ended up with, and yet, she stayed.'
He also added that 'there were three other men in her marriage,' speaking about his bandmates- The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr.

The couple share four children together- Jordan, Eve, Elijah, and John, who have all forged careers of their own, some in showbiz and some not.
Eve has delved into the world of acting, Elijah has taken over the Irish music industry with his band Inhaler, Jordan founded her own tech company, Speakable, and John's career is not yet known- but he is only 22 after all!

Bono told CBS Mornings, that their love is not about grand gestures, but more about the significance of their union.
He said: 'Friendship is what myself and Ali have, when you have romantic love and friendship, that’s really something special.'

Bono also praised Ali while promoting his new film Bono: Stories of Surrender which will be released on Apple TV+ on May 30.
'I'm really one quarter of an artist without Edge, Adam and Larry,' he said before adding: 'And I'm half of a person without Ali.' Swoon!
