How 'America's Got Talent' judges reacted after Tom Sandoval performed

The America's Got Talent judges didn't hold it against Tom Sandoval that he was at the center of Scandoval.

After the Vaderpump Rules alum and his band, the Most Extras, performed a lively version of A-ha's "Take on Me" on Tuesday's episode, the judges lavished him with praise.

When she was asked why she was standing as the song ended, judge Mel B appeared to set it up for the act to jam at her wedding planned for later this year to hairstylist Rory McPhee.

"Because you made me smile! You gave me happy vibes," the Spice Girls member said. "And, apart from that being one of my favorite songs, you all look like you are fully enjoying yourselves, and you're not embarrassed to say that you are a cover band. And I need a cover band for my upcoming wedding, so I loved it."

An ecstatic Sandoval replied, "We're so there!"

The other judges were enthusiastic, too, about the controversial reality star.

"I love cover bands," Sofia Vergara said. "I love the band. I love the energy. Tom, you look amazing up there. I thought you guys brought us joy tonight."

For Howie Mandel, the cover of the radio favorite was a hit.

"Tom is a showman," Mandel said. "He really takes this seriously. It's a fun night at a club. For me, it was great."

But Simon Cowell, who noted that he was friends with Sandoval's former employer Lisa Vanderpump, had a complaint.

"The vocals weren't great Tom," Cowell said. "I'm gonna be honest with you."

There was a "but" coming.

"However, not everyone comes on this show to get a record deal," Cowell added. "Sometimes, it's about being true to who you are."

When it came time to vote, Cowell joined the other three judges in giving Sandoval and company four yeses, sending them into the next round of competition.

As the group left the stage, Mel B told a crew member that she didn't "give a f--- about the scandal" that made Sandoval infamous. "Who cares?"

The reality TV star had an affair with Raquel Leviss after dating her close friend Ariana Madix for over nine years. The fallout from the affair led to multiple lawsuits.

Meanwhile, Sandoval told host Terry Crews that he had been so nervous that "my throat dried up."

America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
