HIVED inks $42M to transform parcel delivery with AI and all-electric logistics network
The UK’s parcel delivery sector is in crisis, struggling to keep up with the rapid evolution of e-commerce. Traditional logistics companies, designed for a pre-digital age, are scrambling to upgrade their outdated systems and fossil-fuel vehicles to meet customer expectations for speed, reliability, and sustainability. This has led to a fragmented, inefficient, and environmentally harmful network that disadvantages consumers and poses a serious threat to the planet.
HIVED directly addresses these challenges with a purpose-built, all-electric, AI-driven logistics system tailored for e-commerce. Its proprietary HIVEDmind platform manages each parcel’s journey using deep learning, live data, and dynamic delivery zones, replacing fixed postcodes with adaptable, data-informed boundaries. The system integrates live tracking, fraud detection, and optimised electric vehicle routing within a single platform.
Thanks to its innovative approach, HIVED has emerged as the UK’s top-rated parcel delivery service, earning the trust of major brands including John Lewis, Uniqlo, Zara, and Nespresso. The company has successfully delivered over 6.5 million parcels with an impressive 99% on-time rate, a testament to the effectiveness of its solutions.
HIVED recently secured $42 million in Series B funding to fuel nationwide expansion, led by NordicNinja. Investors included Wex Venture Capital, Marunouchi Innovation Partners, Elemental Impact, Yamato Holdings, Future Back Ventures by Bain & Co, Rocketship VC, and existing backers such as Planet A.
HIVED was founded in 2021 by Murvah Iqbal (CEO) and Mathias Krieger (CTO), who met during a university trip to Silicon Valley through their shared passion for technology and startups. Their initial venture involved advertising on delivery vans, where they witnessed firsthand the inefficiencies and environmental impact of traditional parcel delivery, including outdated technology, poor customer service, and a lack of sustainable solutions.
Driven by the pressing need for improvement, they launched HIVED to decarbonise logistics and raise delivery standards. Their mission is to make seamless, environmentally friendly, and tech-driven delivery the norm rather than the exception, while encouraging the industry’s transition to innovative, eco-conscious practices.
The founders’ entrepreneurial drive, operational expertise, and focus on customer experience have been instrumental in HIVED’s rapid growth and industry-leading service quality.
At the heart of HIVED’s operations is HIVEDmind, a proprietary platform that leverages AI and real-time data to monitor every stage of a parcel’s journey. Unlike any other industry, this platform dynamically redefines delivery zones based on current parcel volumes, optimising routes for faster deliveries and setting a new standard for efficiency in the logistics sector.
Each parcel is tracked in real time, with advanced fraud detection and geo-tagged delivery photos ensuring transparency and security for retailers and consumers. The operation runs on a 100% electric fleet, making HIVED the UK’s only fully electric logistics provider.
Retailers and customers enjoy live dashboards, customizable notifications, and a seamless delivery process, which has reduced “Where Is My Order?” inquiries by over 90% compared to conventional carriers. HIVED maintains a 99% on-time delivery rate and customer satisfaction above 90%, exceeding industry averages of 32%.
This integration of cutting-edge technology and sustainability has established HIVED as the country’s premier parcel delivery service.
Unlike competitors that simply retrofit traditional systems with basic innovative features, HIVED’s infrastructure was designed from scratch for e-commerce, enabling it to scale quickly, adapt to real-world challenges, and deliver superior outcomes for merchants and consumers.
With the fresh $42 million funding round, HIVED plans to accelerate its UK expansion, opening additional depots and extending its middle-mile and last-mile electric networks to major cities such as Manchester and Birmingham, beyond its London base. The company is significantly investing in engineering and data talent to enhance HIVEDmind and is developing a nationwide charging network to support its growing electric fleet.
In the long term, HIVED aims to serve as the backbone of sustainable logistics in the UK and beyond, fostering a circular economy through innovations in reusable packaging and return logistics. By establishing a new standard for parcel delivery that is seamless, sustainable, and customer-focused, HIVED strives to make exceptional delivery experiences accessible while dramatically reducing the environmental footprint of the logistics sector.
