Legendary actress Sridevi remains one of the most iconic figures in Indian cinema.  For the unmatched charm, elegance and magnificent performances across languages and genres, Sridevi carved a place in the hearts of millions. Years after her untimely passing, her legacy continues to inspire actors across generations including her daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor, who are seen paying heartfelt tributes to their mother, expressing deep admiration from time to time.

In a recent social media post, Janhvi Kapoor paid a unique and emotional tribute to her late mother and the golden age of Indian cinema. The actress posted a few pictures flaunting a denim jacket with cut outs of Bollywood legends like Sridevi, Anil Kapoor and Amrish Puri’s pictures on the back. The creative was inspired by one of Sridevi's most celebrated Telugu films Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990).

This heartfelt tribute comes after the re-release Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, giving Janhvi the perfect opportunity to relive her mother's magic on the big screen. Applauding the cinematic brilliance of the era, Janhvi took a moment to praise all the movies, art, music, set, stories back in the day, calling it “Cinema at its peak”. She added a special note for her mother and the magic she created on screen. The actress wrote, “Mumma is like an angel fairy princess and so funny and so cute ”.

However, this is not the first time that Janhvi has honoured and paid tribute to her mother publicly. From heartfelt interviews to symbolic gestures like wearing her mom's sarees, Janhvi has always celebrated Sridevi's contribution to Indian Cinema while carving a niche of her own. The actress has been open about the aspiration of keeping her mom's legacy alive and connect with the audience as much as Sridevi did through her films.

During her recent red-carpet appearance at the 78th Cannes Film Festival for her upcoming movie Homebound, Janhvi recalled memories of visiting Cannes with her mom as a child and spending the summer in the city. Remembering how she accompanied Sridevi to all her big milestones, Janhvi expressed the surreal feeling of revisiting the city to debut on the red carpet without her mother by her side.

For her debut at the Cannes Film Festival, Janhvi opted for a stunning blush pink ethnic couture, designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The look was praised heavily on social media for its elegance, but what truly amazed the fans was how strikingly Janhvi resembled her mother. Be it the veil that covered her bun, the pearl jewellery or the soft, classic make-up, everything reminded fans of Sridevi with many agreeing to comments like “It's giving Sridevi” or “reminded me of Sridevi”.

Talking about visiting grand events with her mom as a child, Janhavi had shared one of her first memories of Filmfare. She recalled Filmfare being like a family outing where Sridevi always used to be excited to show her around as a child. She even remembered picking out the event outfit for her mother during the first Filmfare that Janhvi ever attended.

Janhvi has always been a mama’s girl, and it shows in the way she talks or the practices she follows. Her connection with her mother is extremely emotional and spiritual. The actress even has a tattoo on her forearm that reads “I love you my Labbu” in her mom's handwriting. Explaining the tattoo, Janhvi has said that Sridevi had signed a card saying “I love you my Labbu” for Janhvi during her 18th birthday, probably mistakenly writing Labbu instead of Laddu.

Janhvi has been vocal of her bond with Tirupati and Balaji and the immaculate peace that she experiences upon visiting Balaji's idol. After the passing of her mother, she decided every year on her birthday she would climb to take blessings of Balaji, and she is seen fulfilling the promise in her frequent visits to Tirupati, a place that both her and Sridevi cherished deeply.

Not only Janhvi Kapoor, but her sister Khushi Kapoor is also seen embracing Sridevi's legacy with the most special tributes. When Khushi made her debut in Bollywood with Zoya Akhtar's The Archies alongside Agastya Nanda and Vedang Raina, she wore Sridevi's beautiful strapless gold sequin dress for the special screening of her series at NMACC. The same gown was worn by the late Sridevi at an awards show nearly a decade ago. Taking to social media, Khushi posted stunning pictures that echoed her mother's style. She captioned it, “The most special night with the most special pieces of you ”

Additionally, Khushi Kapoor was also seen accompanying her father Boney Kapoor during the inauguration of the Sridevi Kapoor Chowk in Mumbai.

Whether it is through fashion, social media, or spiritual homage, both the Kapoor sisters have always honoured their mother's legacy with love. The duo keeps sharing heartfelt posts online to remember their mother on anniversaries or occasions like mother day.

In today's world, where legacy and fame can be fleeting, the Kapoor sisters have sincerely ensured that late Sridevi's aura continues to shine – both as an icon and as a mother.
