Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Book Development Council to integrate integrity and ethics into early childhood education as part of efforts to promote patriotism.

According to him, the government's priority is to instill these values from an early age to shape morally responsible citizens.

"It is the government's desire and intention to incorporate integrity and ethics into early childhood training, linking them to patriotism as a core value. Therefore, as you develop books, it is essential to introduce children to what is morally acceptable and unacceptable, ensuring that integrity and ethics become part of their formative years. In future curriculum reviews, we will necessarily incorporate these values for preschool, early childhood, and basic education going forward," he stated.

He made this statement during his tour of agencies and institutions under the Ministry of Education.

The minister also emphasized the importance of fostering a strong reading culture among pupils to enhance literacy and critical thinking.

The nationwide tour, conducted on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 aimed to familiarize him with the institutions under his ministry and address key concerns within the education sector.

His visits included GTEC, TVET, GETFund, and other major agencies responsible for overseeing education policies and development.
